I am happy to report that the old railway line in Leigh Rd Hindley Green has been developed into a lovely walk way.

The trees and bushes cut back and a hard surface laid.

There is now a winding pathway through with steps leading up to Aylesbury Crescent.

Hopefully this will be extended to other parts of the railway line in the future.

This is a job well done and should give much pleasure to the residents of Hindley Green in this area.

 Good Result for Local Resident

Just one, very important, case from my busy schedule.

Bill, an 82 year-old local resident, living alone, had recently had a knee operation and was unable to get into his bath and was using a washing-up bowl to stand in for an all-over wash, which was difficult because of his knee operation.

He contacted Social Services to apply for a walk-in shower cubicle.  After completing a 10 page form, he was told that nothing could be done for him.

I approached Social Services and told them that this was not acceptable.  Bill was then delighted to be told that he could have a shower cubicle, but was disappointed to hear that it would take six months to install.

After I contacted them again, the six months was reduced to six weeks, and Bill now has a walk-in, sit down, shower cubicle.

As I promised in my election address, I am committed to serving the residents of Hindley Green, and this result makes my job worth while.

       HELPING OUT AT FOTARA

I was pleased and privileged to help

the FOTARA team delivering presents

to needy families in the area - No prizes

for spotting me in the Father Christmas

Outfit!  FOTARA, assisted by many

local firms and individuals, do a very

worthwhile job.  Any unwanted toys,Christmas wrapping paper and unused batteries, will always be welcome to them at their Headquarters at Abram Community

Centre.

Over recent months, problems have been experienced by residents in the backings situated between the two hairdressers on Atherton Rd Hindley Green.

Residents have been experiencing problems with potholes and parking issues.

These issues were brought to my attention.

As a result of this, I arranged by to rectify one of these problems by arranging to deposit road plane in this area ( see picture right ) to alleviate the pothole problem.

Before and after pictures show the difference to the area.

This was financed from my Brighter Borough Funding.
